The Università Cattolica will extend its educational role to families proposing a set of activities with a special formula allowing children to take part in the workshops while their parents are attending the related conference.
Friday 22 May, from 5.00 to 6.30 p.m.
Workshop for children THE FOOD BLOCK: a special apartment block with families living at every floor, each of which has the features of a specific nutrient. Each family will introduce itself to the children, who will carry out creative activities to help them face specific tasks while reflecting on the features of nutrients in a fun way.
Conference for parents “Families at the lunch table. Talking, playing, understanding each other to grow up together” (Speaker: Manuela Cantoia, University teacher and author of the book La famiglia a tavola. Parlare, giocare, capirsi per crescere insieme): lunch can be a hard challenge for families, yet it is a precious educational opportunity of mutual observation as well as of teaching and learning through the experience and models shared while sitting around a table!
Saturday 23 May, from 5.30 to 7.00 p.m.
WORKSHOP for children ECO-LIFE: a video story telling involving children in various creative activities and aimed at fostering eco-friendly behaviours and attitudes. Will they manage to help the alien Greenny save the Emerald planet from the claws of the wicked Smoggy?
CONFERENCE for parents “The approach to food during early childhood and the building of mind models: balance and imbalances” (Speaker: Luciana Pisciottano Manara, Child and Adolescent Neuropsychiatrist and Psychotherapist): the need for food leads to meet an ambiguous, external and unknown reality. This is both a meeting and a clash, which works as a mediator/planner/promoter in forging and developing mind models.
Sunday 24 May, from 11.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m.
Workshop for children THE SPORTSMAN MENU: children will be invivted to create the perfect menu for athletes, working on the combination of fundamental nutrients (carbohydrates, proteins, fat…) with the features of the perfect sportsman (self-efficacy, determination, endurance, objectives and positive feelings)!
Conference for parents “From bread, butter and sugar to snaks, from the yard to the tablet: evolution of children lifestyle” (Speaker: Francesco Confalonieri, Specialist in Sports Medicine): A diet based on the nutritional requirements for growth and in line with the tastes and habits of each child is the key to a balanced growth both from a physical as well as from a psychological point of view. Children between 6 and 12 years old, need to build their motor intelligence: here is a chance to seek original and effective answers to these fundamental issues.
During these three days a psychologist, a psychiatrist and a nutritionist will be present to advise parents on lifestyles, food and wellness for children and adolescents. All activities will be carried out in Italian and in English, if required!
